When exterior designer Vojtech Stransky was unable to return to our design studio in Shanghai after a trip home to Europe, due to the coronavirus pandemic, he was presented with an opportunity to work alongside the team at Nissan Design Europe, finding new ideas for future projects.

Nissan’s global design team looks to connect a worldwide community of artists through the #drawdrawdraw social project. Nissan is offering a creative outlet for our fans to express their artistic side with a coloring book, videos, and encouraging fans to show their own creations!

Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka joins Nissan as brand ambassador



Nissan has named 20-year-old tennis player Naomi Osaka its newest brand ambassador.

The announcement was made at Nissan’s Global Headquarters in Yokohama, marking one of Osaka’s first appearances in Japan since winning the title on Sept. 8.

Armed with her powerful groundstrokes and strong serve, Osaka became the first Japanese player to win a women’s singles Grand Slam. Born in Japan to a Japanese mother and a Haitian-American father, she moved to the U.S. when she was 3 years old and competes for Japan.

As part of the partnership, Osaka will appear in global promotions and advertising for Nissan, and Nissan will support her activities as a tennis player, including providing Nissan vehicles at her tour destinations.

Nissan’s 3.8-liter V6 24-valve twin-turbocharged engine – each handcrafted by its own takumi technician – remains the heart of the GT-R’s drivetrain. The 2020 Nissan GT-R NISMO features an exclusive turbocharger design – direct from the GT-R GT3 race car. A modified turbine engine shape with fewer blades, decreases rotational mass for improved acceleration and performance.

This optimizes the flow rate and enhances the acceleration response by 20%, without a loss of horsepower – creating the ultimate track and street vehicle.

Nissan is offering a new creative outlet for our fans to express their artistic side with a coloring book, videos, and encouraging fans to show their own creations!

Alfonso Albaisa, Nissan’s senior vice president for global design, kicks off this global collaboration with his team of designers that are also working from home during this unique time. From his home in Tokyo, Albaisa draws and colors in a Nissan 240Z with his two young sons. Check out his self-filmed video.

Nissan teaches robots to make replacement parts for cars

Nissan has developed a new way to use robots to make car parts out of sheet steel, a breakthrough that could make replacement parts for discontinued models more widely available for customers.

Nissan hopes to commercialize the proprietary technique, known as dual-sided dieless forming.

The technique involves two synchronized robots working from opposite sides of a steel sheet, using diamond-coated tools to gradually shape the steel.
