Dr. Lucian Gheorghe, senior innovation researcher at the Nissan Research Center in Japan, leads Nissan’s Brain-to-Vehicle (B2V) research. The technology can use augmented reality to adjust what the driver sees and create a more relaxing environment.

“The potential applications of the technology are incredible,” Gheorghe said. “This research will be a catalyst for more Nissan innovation inside our vehicles in the years to come.”

Zhengzhou Nissan’s Navara wins at Taklimakan Rally



BEIJING – Zhengzhou Nissan’s tough Nissan Navara pickup has won a difficult stage of the 2018 Taklimakan Rally, an extreme motorsports event in China.

Three Navara trucks began the eight-stage rally in Urumqi, Xinjiang, in China’s far northwest. The trucks followed the old Silk Road for 2,769 km, including the blazing hot and technically challenging Gobi Desert. Of 90 automobiles taking part in Asia’s largest annual off-road endurance rally, only 59 could complete the entire challenge.

Zhengzhou Nissan drivers Ho-Ututunasheng and En Wang – competing in the 215-km SS1 stage from Turpan to Shanshan – drove their Navara to victory in the T2.1 category, while Zhengzhou Nissan also clenched four of the eight “Golden Helmet” prizes.

Nissan GT-R50 by Italdesign continues world tour, confirms production design



Nissan has confirmed the production design of the Nissan GT-R50 by Italdesign – the ultimate expression of the GT-R – and has opened the official order books for the 50-vehicle limited run.

Nissan collaborated with Turin, Italy-based Italdesign to create the model, based on the latest Nissan GT-R NISMO, in commemoration of the 50th anniversaries of the GT-R in 2019 and Italdesign in 2018. While the prototype vehicle was finished in a special gray with gold accents, customers will be able to specify their preferred color combinations for the production version. They also will be able to choose interior colors and packages.

In addition to Goodwood, the GT-R50 prototype has made appearances at Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium, the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion in the U.S. and Nissan Crossing in Tokyo’s Ginza district. It will be on display at the Nissan Gallery in Yokohama from Dec. 7.
